The fieldwork component was one of the highlights: ten soil pits were dug across Normandy, offering around 100 participants a unique opportunity to discover the soil from the inside and analyze its horizons with experts. The involvement of schoolchildren was also stepped up. Many pupils aged 8 to 12 benefited from the Fresque du Sol (Soil Fresco) at school, while science and participatory research workshops led them to explore the biodiversity of their schoolyards. Together, these actions highlighted the importance of better understanding, sharing, and preserving soils.
